3. Indications for Use.

This photosensitizing medication is applied in PCT (photochemotherapy) of:
Lichen rubber planus;
psoriasis;
vitiligo;
mycosis fungoides (lymphoma).

5. Posology and Administration

Medication should be administered orally in combination with non-fat food or milk in one intake of 3-4 capsules (total of 30-40mg) at least 1.5-2 hours before UV-irradiation. The length of course varies from one to three months. It is necessary to get exposed to light to see the performance of medication. At the beginning of treatment exposure ot UV-irradiations needs to be limited to 5 minutes and then can be gradually increased to the level of 30 minutes.
Body should not be exposed to sunlight for 24 hours before taking Methoxsalen or before successive phototherapy. Wear sunglasses for at least 24 hours after therapy in order to avoid cataract development and prevent access of sun rays for 8 hours after therapy. Wear sunglasses during therapy of UV-irradiation. Not more than one third of the irradiation dose should affect stomach skin, genitals and breast.

6. Counterindications

Benign or malign tumors, diseases of blood, hypersensitivity, kidney of liver failure, melanoma (such as anamnesis), high photosensitivity (gepatho-porphyria, lupus erythematosis in systematic manner, albinism, pigmental xerodermia), lesion of eye, period of lactation and pregnancy, aphakia, age under 12 years.

8. Interface with Other Medications

Should not be combined with any other medicines with photosensitizing effect. To avoid serious side effects talk to your doctor about any medications, which you are currently using or are planning to use during treatment with Methoxsalen

9. Overdosing

Symptoms of overdosage: aggravation of side effects, described below. If you feel that you are overdosed, contact your doctor as soon as possible.

10. Side Effects

Dizziness, vomiting, nausea, appetite loss, skin blush, itching of skin, burns (in case of excessive exposition to UV-irradiation), insomnia, nervousness, depression. In case of long-term treatment with high doses of medication there can appear symptoms of cataract, skin ageing, and skin cancer.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Not allowed for use in the period of pregnancy. Stop breast-feeding, if you need to be treated with the medication.

12. Driving

It is not recommended to operate machinery and drive vehicles, as well as perform other activities, which need alertness, as dizziness is one of the possible side effects.
